what is the correct writing sequence of letter "E" ?
My daughter asked me about this.
I am used to write the horizontal character stroke of "E",
but her teacher told that the first stroke is the downwards-starting right angle character stroke. Confused
I want get authorative answer from native english speaker
thanks

think it depends on what continent as to how people form a printed E.

but that is beside the point now as printing is not taught in schools here now... they start with unconnected written (cursive) letters.. then progress to joining the letters together.

So modern kids cannot print letters, when they need to fill out a form Shocked

but personally... i do the down stroke first... then each horizontal sroke seperately

I write an "L" then add the two other strokes....but as long as you can read the letter "E" does it matter?

Writing an L is faster than a reverse L and 2 lines, draw an L and 2 other lines.
Drawing a line and 3 others to complete the letter is slower too.
So was taught in school.

You can tell your daughter that there isn't a "right order" of strokes like in chinese ideograms, as long as the job is done here no one really cares... it's not a mistake. I guess that's why she's asking Smile

Have a good evening.

It's about the same, not normative like chinese strokes order.

you are right dume, Chinese strokes order has a general guiding rule that is from left to right and from top to bottom.

I start with the top line, from right to left, then continue down to the bottom line, finishing by adding the middle line. That uses only two pen strokes.
