I wonder if it is possible to build a little test scenario for a MCS-4 set.
I imagine a board with four to five sockets that contain the set in plastic and working. I think that should be possible to get.
If there would be a test program necessary we need a ROM that contains the program (eg. 1702 in combination with a 4289(?))
For the display of the ok-function of every chip a simple LED is responsible.
So when the power is turned on and all LEDs are light, all chips work.
To test a 4001/2/3/4 just change the chip with that one in the socket. No function, no light.
The mere existence of such a machine would clear all those threads that touch the fake-phenomenon:-)))
Question:
Is that possible?
Is anybody able to develop and produce such a testcomputer?
Are there more guys interested?
Shall we collect money and let anybody make a couple of those for us?
I think the production should be a cheap thing when just the board with the program has to be done and WE have the plastic MCS-4 set.
The development will be much harder - or is it still done?
I would announce $100 as the first bill in the hat.
Anybody out there to share? |

It would be a lot cheaper than buying an Intellec 4!
I would pay $100 for a MCS-4 tester if someone wants to make
one. |

It's not a testcomputer, but it may work for this purpose:
