does anyone know if I can use a 400 fsb on my motherboard (m7vig-400 ver 7.1) and run it at 333 fsb?The max cpu for my board is XP3000 333fsb. Will the 400 run at 333? I'm thinking about getting a AXDA3000DKV4E for my board. How much more power is the athlon 3000 over a sempron 2800+
thank you

If the "core" is supported (I think so), running it from 400 to 333 mhz will just decrease its performance.

Multiplier is locked, so 14*400 mhz gives 14*200 (because frequency is DDR, doubled from effective freq) 2800 mhz (no amd cpu socket A has that high) and 14*333 ---> 14*166.66 gives 2333 mhz.

In the transition you lose 500 mhz if cpu power.

But the cpu will work just fine. Maybe you can decrease the cpu voltage of some tenths.

Hope you got me, I'm off to lunch Smile Smile
