US$1825 for a grey 4004...new record!

Here's the listing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270472806067&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Anyone from here buy it?

And big prices for the others:

4001 white - US$255
4002-1 white - US$375
4003 white - US$305

Looks like everybody wanted to get this one (4004). Interestingly, the high bidder has only 28 transactions under his/her belt, and the second high-bidder even less (14). So the newbies won.

And the C4001 went about 5 x higher than usual - did we have an anomaly in the space-time continuum? I was just watching in awe!

I'm the winner of C4003, just want to have one set of MCS4. Now I have C4003 and C4004. Keep finding the C4001 & C4002.

The third one is me. I take the very high risk to place my bid at such high price because my wife don't allow me to buy it at such sky-high price.

If I win it, I guess I must prepare a detail report for the approval.

I can't imagine if I win the C4004 over USD2,000, can I still alive? Hahaha.

My wife must stop me buying it if she know it.

I was interested in it. But I left at 1300 USD, ... at 20 seconds to end.
Too much for me.

No datecode or even coutry of origin at back side ? It is normal ? I haven't C4004 with viewable traces.

All look real to me. Will be very interesting to see what these chips are fetching in the next 5-10 years. I'm guessing you will be seeing prices >$5k as the remaining ones get locked away in collections.

IMO, the price is reaaaly crazy!
It went about N times higher than usual price. If you checked the ended price of C4001,C4002 or C4003 C4004 recently, you may found the prices are much higher. The lot of 3 different kind of C4001 including grey otrace one ended at less than $120 in last 2 monthes I remembered.

I also found a interesting phenomenon, the chips in MCS-4 set sold by this seller always ended in much higher price than others.(but I could say he is a good seller as I have ever bought items from him)

Hi, bccwchan, I am sorry to tell you that the first pin of the C4003 is a bit short Crying or Very sad it is removed from non-soldered c4003 borad.
For this kind of high price chips, we always do a bet and take very high risk for them....

My grey C4004 and all my other Intel chips from 1970, 1971 have no datecode or country name on backside. I don't think I've even seen any chips marked from 1972 or 1973.
Has anyone got these early datecodes marked on Intel chips?

I agree that this seller is good, since I got my C4003's from him too. Cool

These super high prices are great for us owners of these rare chips, :)but will make it difficult for most newbies to ever afford one. Sad

Really??? If it's truth, must keep looking for C4001,4002 & C4003.

MCS4 is my ultimate target but don't know how long it take, and how much it costs.

date codes go back to the early 70ies. For any reason there are many 4004 chips without.

What drives me crazy is the fact that NOONE sells his chips higher as laizefaire.
I realized this very often and like mentioned above it was Lee (gmanbc) who's three different and perfect C4001 chips went for about $120.
I was in that auction but really out of money at that time:-(((
