Hi

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU as its 3 yrs old etc.

Trouble is I can't get to grips with what upgrade will or won't be compatible. My system details are:

Processor
Processor : Celeron M 430
Frequency : 1733 MHz - (current : 1729.20 MHz)
Support : Socket 479 mBGA
Cache L1 : 64 KB
Cache L2 : 1024 KB
FPU Coprocessor : Present
Codename : Yonah Revision : C0 Technology : 0.065µ CPU ID : 6.E.8 CPU IDEx : 6.E.8 Microcode : MU06E839 Mobile : Yes
Motherboard
Manufacturer : ASUSTeK Computer INC. (Asus) Product : Calcite Version : 1.xx Serial Number : MS1C6AS33200639 Support MP : Yes, 1 CPU(s) Version MPS : 1.4

Could anyone give me some options please!

Cost not too much of an issue and I would like to future proof to some extent.
Cheers!!

You should open it and look for the model name.

Could it be N4L-VM DH?

These are your options. Be sure to have the adequte cooling system (heatsink and fan).

Under the cpu name there's the bios revision required to work.

If your writings above are true, I'm sorry, you cannot upgrade, because mBGA cpus cannot be replaced, as they are soldered on motherboards.

Didn't notice that, but I believe his cpu is not soldered.
He has to report on his motherboard.

I've found only one board to fit his description, but if I'm wrong I'll learn something anyway.

The weather is awfull today here, hope someone has sun.

Thanks all.

When I get a minute I'll check the board number and whether cpu is soldered and post back.

BTW, the PC is a HP slimline s7610. I'm guessing this is not a standard board for a PC, but maybe a laptop based system?

Right, I've looked and its a ASUS MOCA - AR N13219 D33005.

There isn't any soldering around the processor and it looks removable. Wink

I'm pretty familiar with these, the Calcite board is ITX-like, with Socket M onboard. I dont think the mBGA is correct, I'm fairly certain it's PGA.

Do an eBay search "HP Calcite"
