I have the same problem you have, but a little different. I turn on the computer, and it gets to "Veryifying DMI Pool Data..." then says something "DISK BOOT ERROR, INSERT DISK AND PRESS ENTER". I do CTRL ALT DEL to restart the system, and voila! it works. I tried change in the cmos etc, nothing works.
Do you have a fairly new system, with a SATA harddrive? I think SATA automatically sets up as SLAVE because there are no jumpers on the back. Let me know what you have |

Check your BIOS for a setting called something like IDE detect time out
and bump it up some.
Sometimes the CPU can boot up the machine faster than the time it takes the MB to detect IDE devices. |

I corrected the problem for those who have this problem I removed my drive which contained windows xp. I then shorted the cmos jumper(5 Seconds) and then normalized the jumper to reset the cmos. I then installed another drive which I installed windows 98 using a 2nd cpu. I inserted the windows 98 boot disk, since it did not recognized the cd it did not find the 98 installation files which then took me to A prompt. at a prompt I removed boot disk and inserted the disk containing the flash program and the correct bios bin. for my board the command was A:AWD822A P4VXADP11D.BIN
the first command is the flash(awd822a) the second command is the bios the flash will load(p4vxadp11d.bin). Once i entered this command the flash utility opened and flashed the bios for me and now my board is back running better than ever. I hope this helps you out if you are having this problem it did the trick for me. |
