Hi. New here, and new to CPU's in general (well, opening them up and what not). I have a Dell with a (2003) Intel Celeron D 2.53 GHZ in it. I also have a spare (2001) Intel Pentium 4 2.80 GHZ chip. I was wondering if I could just swap the D for the 4. Would it be beneficial in anyway to do this? I figure any boost in performance, no matter how small, is better. Thanks in advance and I'll be reading around the site for more info.

Oh, and the D says SL7KY and the 4 says SL6PF, if that means anything.

Oh, and one more thing. How do I know what mobo I have? Thanks!

Jose

Do you have a Service Tag and/or model number for your Dell?

The Dell site provides the ability to look up the configuration of your computer using your service tag.
