|
|
Hi,
I want to buy an Athlon64 and I would like to know how to interpret the information contained here:
http://www.cpu-world.com/info/id/AMD-K8-identification.html
Could it be for example that a rated 3000+ would in fact be a 3500+ when one looks at the CPU ID ? In other words, if you want to have nice performance for lower prices, is it important to look at it ?
And what about Maximum operating temperature and Voltage ? Is it better to have a high value on the ID or a low value ?
Thanks ! |

if you're trying to buy the cheapest chip you can and overclock the hell out of it, id start by looking at actual overclocking sites. whenever theres a bargain like that (the barton 2500+ springs to mind) they'll be all over it.
as for temps and voltages, youd ideally want a chip with a high maximum temperature, and a low voltage. that way you can add more voltage to get a higher stable overclock, and not exceed the maximum temperature. again, using the barton 2500+ as an example, the mobile 2500+'s ran at a very low default voltage, but could take well over the normal voltage for a desktop 2500+ since they were 'the cream of the crop' basically. |
