|
|
Hello! I want to upgrade my CPU to dual core but my mobo can only support up to 1.8Ghz pentium dual core based on the CPU support list on their website(Asrock ConRoe865GV). I can't upgrade to Core 2 Duo 4xxx series coz they are no longer available. My current processor is Pentium 4 531 3.0Ghz Prescott Core. Although it's a single core I'm still satisfied with its performance. I'm hesitant to upgrade coz of the following reasons:
1. It's impractical for me to upgrade up to 1.8Ghz only. It's more reasonable to upgrade from 2.2Ghz onwards to get a reasonable performance.
2. Core 2 Duo could be nice but they are no longer available & my mobo can't support Pennryn based processors.
Now my question is: Can the Pentium 4 531 perform at par with pentium dual core at 1.8Ghz? I believe its high clock speed & Hyper-Threading support can match its performance. Can a low clock speed dual core a reasonable upgrade with my mobo? Please help. Thanks... |

Go to "tom's hardware guide" and check their cpu charts.
There are many cpus compared in order to give you directions.
Try ebay to locate cpus. |
