|
|
| My current rig has a Pentium 4 3.0Ghz processor LGA 775 and 1 gig DDR400 SDRAM. However, I want to upgrade to 2 gigs. My 1 gig configuration seems to be performing well,(my OS is Win XP SP-3) I am just an average user who always do web surfing, online gaming & music downloading most of the time. I'm suspecting that 2 gigs is perhaps too much or makes my rig "hang" just a bit. Do I need to add another 1 gig RAM? Perhaps I have a wrong notion about this. Please help. |

Yes, add another 1 Gig. Multitasking will be better.
Check your mobo manual and get your eyes onto your mobo to check out what you have. If you only have two slots you may have to ditch the old memory. |

| I'm just backing up the proposed solution provided above. |

Adding the correct RAM to a computer will not cause it to slow down in any way. I'd scan the system to find out exactly what kind, how much, and the maximum amount of RAM your computer supports. There are several sites where these scanners can be found. One such site belongs to Crucial:

Probably no point going over 2 gig for XP. |
