There's an auction of various dull looking chips here : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3095988598
It mentions a 4040. I emailed the seller and yes, a 4040 is included in the lot. I didn't check what manufacturer.
Why am I not interested in bidding ? Because it's "Will ship to United States only." and I'm in Malaysia. |

Make sure you check the manufacturer. It may be a CD4040 or similar logic chip. I'd say this is a case judging by other chips in the lot (4044, 4017, etc).

I forgot to add - if it's Intel 4040 I can bid on the auction.

No wonder you cannot find it - the original post is almost 1 year old. Thanks to spammers for bringing the post back to life...
