Weitek 1163 Interface chip (handles bus translation etc) Note the Intel copyright
Board also has a socket for a Intel 387

What's under the metal lid?
What's the 8-pin device in 387 socket?

In the socket is 4 decoupling caps in a single package

under the lid is a jumper block, some caps, some resistors, a 74AC32 and a PE-21171 delay line

Just a added bit, the board actually is a complete replacement of the 386 (it has an adapter to plug into the 386 socket)
