I am currently ugrading my CPU from Pentium 4 3.40Ghz to Pentium Dual Core 2.70Ghz but I want to maintain the stock heatsink of the Pentium 4 coz it has a copper base which is known to absorb heat much better than the all-aluminum low-profile heat sink of Pentium Dual Core, plus its fan rotates much faster than the latter which in turn can dissipate heat more efficiently. Can I still use an 85W TDP heatsink to a 65W TDP processor?? I suspect that a much larger stock P4 heatsink is too much for the Pentium Dual Core processor. Please help..Thanks!

Of course, you'll be just fine. Just make sure and re-do the thermal interface well. Your fan might not even spin most of the time, P4 heatsinks are sometimes enough working completely passive.

Some C2D are half height with no copper base... Shocked
775 P4 h/s are outstanding! lol
