|
|
I have an older emachine (T3065)...it has an AMD Anthlon-xp 3000 processor in it. I run windows XP.
Last December while trying to put together a family slide show made up of old photos's etc, with a newly purchased Corel Video studio/paint pro combo...I discovered my processor wasn't large enough or speedy enough to handle the whole dvd authoring thing. (I wanted relatives to be able to view said slide show on their TV/DVD)
No matter what I did, the program would close unexpectedly. I am not computer savvy. My fault.
My hard disk drive just went "boom" and I will need to replace it...perhaps my monkeying around with hundreds of photos and a non functioning program finally did it in...at any rate....IF I am going to have to replace the hard drive? Is it possible to also upgrade the processor?? Would I also need to install/replace the motherboard?
Believe it or not? This has been a great computer...but I have definitely "outgrown" it. A friend told me a "rebuild" would be more expensive than buying a whole new tower...hoping he is mistaken. Could anyone help? make suggestions? Thanks for your time. [/i][/b] |

- i still use p4ht 3,4ghz works great for me. What is important during dvd authoring is your HDD speed -first of all, then comes amount of RAM in systtem, then comes CPU power. Wwell it does depends on video card but its a bit different. Being said that it is also depends what kind of software settings did you use. I can assure you, even if you get AMD PHENOM 2-X4 or Intel i-980EE or some sort, i can have soft setup this way that, this system will be slow... so first check your soft settings, then see if that will get you some room for operation, if not then you might want to consider either SAS controller or SCSI U320 controller installed in your system with RAID-ed Hdd's, if that is not an option then you might want to get refurbished pc block/tower/computer, you name it.
p.s. i have all parts, that i have mentioned for sale, including various refurb towers, including server grade. I am in denver right now, if you interested PM me. _________________ its here. |

Check system requirements for your DVD authoring program. If it requires SSE2-enabled processor then fixing your old system won't make any sense, as you won't be able to use the software after your system is up and running again.
