| If it is a Mobile Athlon 64, then it is socket 754. There is no Athlon 64 X2 that is compatible. |

It depends, the socket is important as you canět mix different cpus' sockets.
Even if mechanically you cna fit one it may cause damage to parts (motherboard or cpu).
Amd created socket's plugs to not allow different cpus sockets to fit mechanically in others.
If you have an Amd socket 754, you have no dual cores available for upgrade (they don't exist for that socket).
For socket 939 you have dual cores (X2), but they are expensive at their max version (4800+ I guess, just check in the cpu section of the site).
If you have AM2 or above you can just put anything as long as your motherboard supports it (some older mobos do not support newer cpus in the athlon family). You need to check the brand and name of the motherboard inside the case.
Post back and we'll figure out a solution... no money required for this
Just time and patience. |
