i generally avoid even buying/trading for them because of the pins. theyre so fragile Sad

I love it when people don't reply, it means their jealous Confused
I mean seriously, he who has a military C8087, a Military D8088 or D8089, say I. Otherwise, tell me why you're not interested in this topic. Is it because I'm the youngest one here and In such a short period of time, I gained a lot of really nice chips you older people don't have?

In my opinion it means they are not very interested. The chips are nice and expensive, they are good additions for collection of any size, but they are not rare. From mil-spec processors I usually like ones in unusual packaging, like 80386EX with gold top, or your MG80486 processor - these at least look interesting.

Personally, I don't like it when very smart people come out and use an expression like that. Just because something like a c4004( An example I'm using for the expression ) is in high demand, and you've seen about 50 on ebay in the past year or so, does not mean it's not rare. If there's a time to do anything it's to buy as many c4004's as you can, because eventually they wont be showing up like that and then you'll be reffering to it as a scarce item.
But now you're basically telling me a MC8087/B or MD8088/B is expensive but not rare? Please point out to an active member of the forum that has anyone of these. Take no offense or anything.

I like the MD8088

Yes these are 'common' military chips but mil chips themselves are nice to have

The fact that only a few collectors have a few of these (if any) doesn't make them rare. As a proof just search on Google for MD8088 and MC8087 - there are many companies selling them. It'll probably cost you arm and leg to buy them, but if you have money you won't have problems getting them. High cost is the reason why collectors have only a handfull of these processors. I know that at least two collectors have MC8087, some have MD8088-2/B (we did a group buy on these long time ago), MD8086, MD8086-2, MD8085 with different suffixes, MD8080A/B and some others. BTW, I think we mean different things when we say "rare". In my opinion rare chips are difficult to find chips regardless of how much you can pay for it, for example G8008, MC8080A/B, Nexgen 6x86, enfgneering samples, .... What you mean is probably "do not exist in CPU collections", or "very difficult to find for acceptable price".

I don't. You too don't take offense. The chips are great, you won't have problems trading them for other chiips, including rare chips.
