Very hard to find chip. These are in much better condition than the ones that showed up on EBAY a few months ago. A few are in near like new condition with not a scratch on them.
I've got 10 for sale. 3 in near like new condition. Another 4 with just a faint scuff or scratch (what many would still call like new condition),
and a 2 with significant scratches but fully legible part numbers.
Pins are in like new condition on all of them. All but one are in Purple ceramic package with gold cap and gold pins. One is in brown ceramic
package with gold cap grouns strap (This is one of the 2 with significant
scratches). All are dated in 1975.
Asking $120 ea. for the 3 in the best condition, $80 ea. for the 4 with just a faint scuff or scratch, 50$ ea. for the 2 with significant scratches. |

Tell you what chip collector, I'll pay you $60 ea. for 3 like new C1103's.
That's only 1/2 the crazy price I'm asking, but since $120 ea. is crazy, then $60 ea. is still half crazy!!!
Just stop by Walmart on the way home and pick them up!
P.S. If Walmart is all sold out, you might want to try Radio Shack...
If that doesn't work, try your local electronics parts distributor. Better yet,
try one of the big search engines that house the listed inventory 99% of all the electronic parts distributors around the world. Surely
there will be at least one C1103 in all those billions and billions of dusty chips!
Darn! I just checked and there are no C1103's left in stock anywhere in the world!
Oh well, bet you can find one at a yard sale.
Good luck:) |

Hello,
I'll take one of your "near like new condition" chips. PM me for further communication.

If anyone offers 10 items ("rare" called) at one time. Then it's a sign that these items are not really rare, or not? I gets a touch of super market... _________________ Frank. |

If you find 10 C4040s then you are doing good (it HAS been done)
Or fond 14 80C287s new in box _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

Dynosaur eggs are extremely rare but are usually found in clutches that sometimes contain over a dozen eggs.
Likewise, it's not uncommon for an extremely rare chip to be found on a board containing more than one chip.
Remember the small lot of C1702's with gray traces that showed up on EBAY a few months ago? These chips were literally unknown before that.
I've been watching EBAY for years and I've never seen another C1702 with gray traces.
The moral is, when a small group of extremely rare chips does show up
for sale, and you want that chip for your collection, you better get it, because it could be years, if ever, before you get another chance. |

Hi, isn't it just a question everybody has to ask himself?
Is it worth it for me???
When I saw a AMD C1101A in purple gold i thought - wow - a rare clone and got the hole lot of 10.
Later I saw 477 (yes, fourhundredseventyseven) AMD C1101 in white.
So what?
It is really like the dinosaur eggs.
Enjoy what You find!!! |

| You wouldn't be interested in selling one of those C1101A boards by any chance would you? |

Already sold 'em. (I saved one board for myself, of course.) But I do run across similar boards from time to time... Here's one with 1101's, ca. 1970:

The next one I can bring myself to part with, I'll definitely give you a head's-up.

I'm also interested in collecting any early intel RAM or related chips. I have 3 variants of C1103 in my collection (brown ceramic with gold dot, brown ceramic with black dot and purple ceramic with black triangle) and 2 variants of P1103 (both positive and negative embossed 'i' in key). I've notified George, with pictures, so he can include them in the 2006 guide.
I'd like to second the 'dinosaur eggs' theory. With CPUs, there's normally only one per board - so naturally rare ones come up in singles. With RAM chips, there are often 8, 16, 24 or more per board (or multiples of 9 if they used parity checking). So you might get none for years, then a board with 128 chips comes up for sale.
