I have bought a Kingston Value RAM 2Gb kit DDR-400 CL-3 DIMM lately. I wanted to set a more aggressive timings through the BIOS such as 2.5-3-3-8 or 2.5-3-3-7 or 2-3-2-5 but I'm afraid that I might damage the DIMM if I will set it below CL-3. Is it possible to set a CL-3 DIMM to CL-2.5?? Maybe it's safe if you'll set it at 3-3-3-8 or 3-3-3-7..What's the best setting? Please help.. |

1. Low timings can not damage you ram.
2. The lower timings -> the higher performance,
but usually difference is not so crucial.
Good ram can 2-2-2-5, and even 1.5-2-2-5 as ddr400, cheap ram probably not,
but it depends not only on ram modules but also on memory controller.
You can try to lower CL to 2.5 or 2, if system will not boot
or will not stable, justgo back to old sennting in bios, nothing dangerous.
Sometimes rising of memory voltage is helpful, but be careful with it, it can damage modules! |
