I want to upgrade my ageing 3Ghz P4 processor into Pentium dual core either based on Conroe or Wolfdale core. But I'm hesitant coz majority of my work on my desktop involves surfing the net all the time but I usually play on-line games. I'm pleased with the P4's single core performance so far when it comes to web surfing. Do I get extra boost in web surfing if I go with the dual cores?? Please help.. Sad

It'll be the same.

If you just want a dual core to say you have one, better to go out and get l'@id Wink

Dume, are you offering to lay ErikTT ? Shocked

If you power surf like me, then get as much juice under the hood as you can afford.

If you click one link at a time like an old man doing the grocery shopping, then get a P233.

No noticeable boost at all if you do only
some web-surfing...
A multicore would give a good boost
if there are running one dozen of (P2P) progs
plus gaming around. But at a given point your
connection would be the bottleneck.

Yes surely if will make a difference in speed of the net speed because in case of dual core, the Operating System functions so that users will notice a serious increase in speed when they go to dual-core,even when running applications that are not "multi-threaded" like Photoshop. One core will be dedicated to only running the application and the other core will run all the background functions.Sp you can go for the dual core option.
