If this ("1G space and php support and mysql") is all you need than GoDaddy is best choice for you. Also, if you are not pro (if you are not to much in hosting and web development) their UI will be helpful too.
I am just finishing one website for guy who host his company website at GoDaddy servers... They are really really fast.
Finally, they have good prices.

(1and1 is a dirty [just my opinion]... I have bad experience from their network)

do you consider free hosting
check this
http://www.free-webhosts.com/free-mysql-database.php
1g space with mysql/php seems not a big demand

i am using byethost now
it provide the following for free
5.5G space
50 mysql
1FTP
200G bandwith per month ....
the speed is also ok for me

@Tetrium

Here you can see their prices (if link is not allowed in thirds some admin or moderator can remove them)...
http://www.godaddy.com/Hosting/web-hosting.aspx?ci=8971#details
Bottom line, for Hugo, "Economy plan" is more than enough. That means some around 60-70 dollars per year. This is correct price for what they offer. Some important things in their offer are; "phone" and email support 24/7, huge list of very usable (especially for Hugo's museum) add-ons (phpBB, Coppermine Photo Gallery, etc). Also, you should take in account that they give you 185 dollars value credit for advertising (Google Facebook MySpace). This is almost triple of what you pay for hosting. Yes?

@Borris70

I don't have anything against 1and1. Bad experience with them was regarding their slow respond (or even not reply) on emergency request. Since 1998 I have my own small network (8 IP's, my own servers and small 2mbit link) and several times I experienced DOS attacks. Few of them was from 1and1 network and this is nothing unusual but IMHO, their communication and respond time is poor. On this kind requests respond (and action) should be fast.
Smile If this is not not too much, what was your position in 1and1?
