Bought two of the P4004/P4040/D8008-1 sets. Seller declared the right price and I had to pay import sales tax. Normally that`s 19%, but there are exceptions: e.g. for collectors`items you have to pay 7%. But only if they have historical value. I told them that the 4004 was the first single chip microprocessor and for sure has a historic-cultural value.
...I had to pay 7% import sales tax |

I think everyone needs to start lobbying their politicians. We can import $1000 worth of goods (about US$900 or EUR$700 at current exchange rates) without paying any customs duties or taxes. Makes it much easier buying CPUs from around the world without having to worry about paying extra $$$ when they arrive.
But nice discovery Jedi _________________ My former Intel collection:

Didn't know that about Australia. Typically I try and keep the declared value at $20 USD or less and no paperwork.
We should put together a list of what different countries charge for import duties / taxes. As well as what and how to declare the contents of the box / items. _________________ The two most common elements on Earth are oxygen and stupidity. |

$1000 per shipment. You can have an unlimited number of shipments per year (or even per day) _________________ My former Intel collection:

This seller was a polish and I asked him (as usually) to write down lower value on package and to mark as GIFT. I'm on "whitelist" of polish customs because we had many nice/not nice phone talks before. Now everything is explained and no taxes for me _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

as far as i am aware Russia has up to 400$ non taxable import postage limit.(if you will mail something to russia) there is 18% tax
as far as i am aware Estonia has up to 50$ (retards-sorry could not resist) non taxable import postage limit. (i had really nice experience with their toll - sent my bro an apple mp3 player - toll peeps asked him to open box and start claiming it is an iphone... there is 20% tax on all items. i had to fax them original receipt along with instruction manual that would explain that it is a mp3 not an iphone.
Anyways, i am very unpleased with their toll...there are other stories too...to make one story short, they would not let me in to the country, claiming i have a fake passport...took all my goods and ids and kept me for 4 hours asking same question: where i got this passport and what is my purpose for coming... FYI - > passport was issued by their government and i was visiting my relatives that time, pretty much came back home...welcome home brother... _________________ its here. |
