im upgrading my processor. my budget is 150 pounds.my motherboard model is gigabyte EG45M-UD2H. which processor is good for gaming & multitasking? i3 or core 2 quad?

This one is easy. Your motherboard doesn't support an i3 processor. Here are your choices:

I'd go for a high dual core processor, but in the long run, if you have a good video card, you could hope for future games supporting multicore processors for real and go with a quadcore. Maybe on the high frequency range (according to 150 pounds Wink).

Remember that bigger processor means more energy draw, be sure to have the adequate power unit.

thnx. my present power supply is 220 v. is it enough? and ati 4650 is it good? my res. 1600*900. if i buy quad im able buy this card in my budget.(150) now my pci express is nvidia 8500gt.

220v is the tension, you need to give us the wattage (W).
Like 500W ....

A good 500-600W should be enough not to worry. By good I mean not the unknown name that costs the less. Go with a known brand on the middle range.
