|
|
| I want to upgrade my current cpu(pentium 4ht 3.0 prescott) from my asrock conroe865gv mainboard to either core2duo or pentium dual core. but the problem is I'm just limited to 2gigs for both options(c2d e4400 & pentium e2160) according to the cpu support list on its website. I wanted to upgrade to 2gigs onwards so that it can be a worthy upgrade, but I'm hesitant coz it might result in some incompatibility issues later on. I did some querry about this matter to its website but there's no reply. BIOS update might be risky not unless you're sure of what you are doing. now my question is, can I upgrade to 2gigs onwards or just stick to its limit?? please help...many thanks.. |

To be honest, unless you need only rough power with every mhz worth, you can safely upgrade to a dual core and be happy even @2 ghz.
If you want to know what to expect go to tom's hardware guide and check their cpu charts (look for 'em on the main page).
I'm not an expert on this but I guess that if you stick to the same core revision (yes, they make cpus that have different clock/mhz amount, but are the same basically), because it's the microcode in it that may give incompatibilities (hoping i'm not saying a profanity ).
Unfotunately those lazy asses never specify in bios revisions the core name and or revisions of it that are supported.
Sleep time for me now. Bye |
