if things are slow, its probably limewire. if im not mistaken thats a p2p app?
if youve got something doing a lot of disk access (reading your files, writing new ones) then the whole computer will be slow. your entire computer is only as fast as the slowest part.
to run 'xp home' 'aol' and 'limewire' a 2000+ is more than enough.. hit ctrl alt del and check task manager, whats it say for 'commit charge'? unless the first number is more than your total ram, youre memory is fine too
in which case your next purchase should be a hard drive, the fastest one you can fine (the wd raptor, as cpushack said in the other thread)
also if you truely have 717mb of ram then you have some memory being shared somewhere, probably an onboard video card, though ive never heard of one using 51mb of ram before. if you do, you should also consider a dedicated video card, this will give you more free memory and definately speed up any gaming you might do. |
