I was surprised by the price of this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5184331982

Processors are common production parts, nothing special. Plastic box is nice, but in my opinion is not worth $70 - $80 or so. Did I miss something?

I have noticed two of the bidders in this list in past auctions as being very aggressive in their bidding. They drive the price up against each other frequently. Only advantage I see to that particular set is that it is in original packaging. If you were going to actually use the chips as set in a machine you were restoring you might value that as evidence they all probably work, no bent pins etc.

I saw a Sun STP2018TAB-50 like Gennadiy has in his "odd chips" section go for $150 recently, then it sold a couple times at $60, another around $30. I picked one up at $17. Selling and buying on ebay can be like playing a lottery.

The $150 auctions have expired but here is one at $60

here is one of the auctions: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5173470339&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Here is mine Smile
