I know that us, collectors, don't like much seeing CPUs being destroyed... Sorry about that, but don't worry, it had missing pins
This afternoon I was testing my hi-speed photography bench and needed a crash test dummy... Here is the result... Impact of a 22LR bullet on a Pentium 200 MMX SL2RY I'm pretty sure John will like that
Shutter speed is around 1/30000th of a second...

excellent photography.
It appears as if the pentium is suspended in air.
I cannot determine how far is the camera. Are you worried that fragments of ceramic will damage the camera lens? |

It is about 1.5 meters from the scene. I'll probably put a glass in front of it to protect it in the future...

How is it triggered exactly ? |
Just cropped and removed the thread to which it was suspended. everything else is genuine.
It is sound triggered. No need to say it takes quite a few shots to get the right sync

I was hoping that you tossed the pentium in the air, and then quickly drew a pistol from a holster and shot the pistol at the pentium with one hand, while shooting the camera with the other hand. |

Totally amazing g0b!
Any chance of more info on the camera/lens/setup, or is it top secret ? I'm missing the 1/30,000 shutter speed on my camera! I'm guessing it would have to be pretty bright to get that nice an exposure at that speed? |

No it's not secret. I did not invent anything
The general idea is to work in the dark, open the camera shutter for 5 seconds for instance, and have a flash that produce a very very short light burst just when the event you want to catch occurs.
So I have a microphone that triggers a Metz AF-58 cobra flash (capable of 1/256 light output, which means 256 times shorter than the 'normal' flash). camera is a Canon 5D mk II DSLR with the (wonderful) 70-200 / 2.8 lens.
