First post here and was wondering if any one can help me with this?

Running horizontal where the normal specs are

intel 03
pentium 4
3.40GHZ/1M/800
SL7JB CHINA
5428B596

But then running vertically off centre is

3.00GHZ/1M/800
SL8BM China
5428B596T

I have never seen this before on a CPU, so if you can shine some light then I be chuffed.

i bought this as a SL7JB for an upgrade on my machine

intel has no record of the SL8BM chip Shocked Question

SL8BM is a Prescott Pentium 4 3.0
To identify run it and check with the cpu-z.

SL8BM S-Spec did exist, but I think it was OEM-only. In my opinion the re-marking was done by Intel, and the CPU will run at 3 GHz.

If it's a fake who done it had a major stunt on faking techniques Wink

But I guess it's just as Genna suggests.
Rare remarking? Or just as ES on barbones?

I have one of these except mine has the following markings:

INTEL m c '03
3.40/1m/800
SL7J8 MALAY
L420A975

3.20/1M/800
SL8BY MALAY
L420A975T

Marked the same way. Very unusual. Not sure but I think it was OEM.
I have not tested it yet but, will post the results when I do. I can also post a photo when time permits.

I have a chip like this in the database http://www.chipdb.org/img-intel-pentium-4-3.00ghz_1m_800-sl7j8-3.40ghz_1m_800-sl8bm-5647.htm

From what i could find out they come from a Dell system (4700?)

Mine came from an Enpower (pc club) system. It was definately OEM. I have never seen one in all my years working on computers. Shocked
Since jay_rock has one that says "china" and mine says "malay", it is not isolated, also, the second marking has a "T" at the end of the lot#.

I have a friend who worked for Intel, I have sent him a note on this and am waiting for a reply, he or someone he knows may be helpful.
Cool

cpuguru, could you provide a image for documentation in the chipdb.org database?
