I am a collector of CPUs and I am trying to find a cool way to present them. One idea was to use a magnetic sheet - like what decals or signs are made of that people stick to the side of company vehicles. A magnetic sheet like that could be put on the wall and chips could be stuck to it. This would be ideal because they could then be easily moved around.
My question. Since metals that contact magnets eventually adopt some magnetism themselves - would this have an effect on the CPU? In otherwords would a magnetized CPU no longer function?

I have never heard of damage resulting from magnetism. But I do not know for a fact if it would or not. I would be inclined to say not.
if it was based on a metal like core memory or somthing then I could see it having an effect. And if anyone here knows for a fact what the results would be please chime in. Very Happy
