486sx -- rebadged dx?

i recently received an intel 486 sx, but the lid on the underside is full size, like a dx, and not the narrow version sx's usually have.

im guessing it may be a dx with a defective fpu that was rebadged?

ill post pics later.. it doesnt look remarked but i dont have time to look and i dont really see why someone would downgrade a cpu with remarking anyhow

the early SXs are just a DX with the FPU purposely disabled.

esactly, the small die is a 1994 produced chip, the large one is a 1992 one

the black ones I have seen were much smaller then the others, thus the reference to them
