hello All,
I have an HP DL360 G4p server for some vmware self training, I'd like to add a 2nd cpu to it. It currently has a single 3.0/800/2MB (SL8P6) installed.
must the s-spec be identical, or could a closest match suffice? I've seen that a SL7ZF or SL8ZQ are resonably simliar. Please advise. |

Yes you can run ones of those, even thou they are a different stepping
BUT the lower stepping (N0) processor will need to be place in the CPU1 socket and the SL8P6 (stepping R0) into CPU2 socket.
The primary CPU sets what features are enabled. So if there is extra features on the R0 stepping processor they will be disabled. _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

| out of curiousity, would a SL7PE work aswell? I believe the cache is 1Mb, whilst the original chip (SL8P6) is 2Mb. |
