hi i just went and bought and amd athlon64 3200 on the socket 939 and it comes up on windows as a 1.80gb is that correct?? i find my pc is sluggish but i have got a sata hard drive at 80gb and it seems not too good. wil the windows xp pro 64bit make my processor work at a better rate than it is or is it just microsoft conning ppl again?? i am happy with my amd cpu tho it really was fun building it but my memory is ddr2 400mhz 515 so maybe i should upgrade it and it may do better. what do you al think??
also what can you say about the asus a8v deluxe wifi motherboard as it is what i bought?? |

check the bios settings first.. i havent had any first hand experience with athlon 64s, but usuall showing the wrong clock speed is a result of having the wrong fsb or multiplier set
also, you can try disabling the cool'n'quiet setting, if its in your bios. afaik that makes the chip clock itself down when its not being used, so it may be throttling back to 1.8ghz since it doesnt need to run at 2ghz. |

| Hi amd2000, go to: http://www.lavalys.com/ ,download and install EVEREST Home Edition v1.51 (freeware 3 Mb), run it, click Computer > Overclock, there You can see CPU Speed > CPU Clock (with realtime CPU speed). |
