Hi Guys,

i own a sony vaio vpcs11m1e notebook with a intel i3 330m cpu. I would like to upgrade my cpu to a faster one. Your list of supported cpus for the hm55 chipset contains the i7 740qm cpu, can you tell if the cpu would work? Can you suggest me a certain cpu?

Thank you very much!

best regards!

It's not possible to tell it without testing on the actual laptop. If you laptop doesn't have dedicated video card than the 740m won't work for sure, because it doesn't have integrated graphics. In this case you may consider upgrading to Core i7-620M or i7-640M: they come with integrated graphics, have the same 35 Watt TDP, and have the same core stepping as some Core i3-330M processors. The i7-640M should be about 30% - 40% faster than the i3-330M.
