Why is a used Athlon64x2 4800+ (2.4 GHz, 5 or more years old at least) way more expansive then a brand new AthlonII x2 3.1 Ghz?
Thanks, and sorry if I'm not in the proper forum area.

the socket 939 version of the 4800+ is the fastest for that socket and the fastest always hold their price as people buy them to upgrade these boards

often buying the next slowest can save you a lot of money with little performance loss
the money saved can be used on replacing the whole setup next time

the AM2 version of the 4800+ you could probably get very cheap

No, fastest 939 cpus are FX-60(2.6GHz/2x1MB/unlocked multiplier) and Opteron 185(2.6GHz/2x1MB).
