Duh question. Cool

I need to get a server with at least an x64 processor
in it and I wouldn't know one if it bit me on the leg.

I need a server that I can use to image drives for
the non-profit that I have. I can get low cost server
software from Microsoft like Small Business Server 2008
up to the 2011 version. I have access to low cost servers as well
but I need a little guidance from this august group as to what
type processor I can minimally get by with. Smile

your cheapest option for a 64 bit server would be something using Nocona or Irwindale xeons.. way cheaper than finding an AMD alternative

I will do a search and see what i can find.. in Florida area??

AMD 24x/84x Opterons can be had for less than $10 a piece, and they all support 64-bit.

Thanks! I may just go with a simple dual Xeon 3.0Ghz IBM 1U server.
I think that may be enough to run SB server 2008 if I get 4G and
a couple of 146G SCSI drives.
