i'M PRETTY NEW TO THIS SO i'LL GET DIRECTLY TO THE POINT I HAVE A AMD K6 THAT WILL ONLY READ 16 COLOR VGA TRIED ADVANCE SETTING AND NEW DRIVERS WHAT ELSE CAN I DO ITS FOR THE KIDS TO GO ON LINE AND DO HOMEWORK ANY ADVIVE WOULD BE GRATLY APPRCIATED CHIEFCHAS@AOL.COM

what makes you so sure the processor has ANYTHING to do with the display mode?

you need drivers for your video card, or, failing that, a new video card.

There's been a flaw with a certain type of K6 Processor ( don't know which ) but it prevents JPG or GIF images from being displayed correctly. He could be referring to that.

im pretty sure thats only k6's, and only in certain circumstances (i never had any problems) .. and he doesnt seem to be mentioning that.

no, it sounds to me like his video drivers are corrupt or missing and he's stuck on the windows 16 color driver.

If you installed new drivers without uninstalling old drivers then try to uninstall old drivers first, and then install new drivers. I know ATI video cards had this problem - new drivers wouldn't install correctly if old drivers were not uninstalled.
