i dont know if any of you have had the opportunity to see an athlon 64 with the hs removed.. ive got an opteron but im not going to pry the hs off just to satisfy my curiosity (maybe when i get a few more Laughing )

anyhow, this THG article has a pic of one:

<thg doesnt allow hotlinking, so just check out the article>

its a somewhat interesting article, even if it is full of a fair bit of bs and misinformation .. heres a link: http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20041221/index.html

since i have scans of that opteron, i can scale that pic of the athlon 64 for comparisons.. heres how the die stacks up against other amd chips:

Shocked

The Athlon 64 Mobile doesn't come with an IHS. BTW, you should be aware about process used. 90 nm die are much smaller than 130 nm.

i know, thats what makes it rather amazing. even at 90nm the athlon 64 is still physically huge..
