Would it be possible to replace the Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processor - M in my latop with a Centrino?

The specs of the Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processor - M are:

Clock Speed: 400MHz
Voltage: 1.3v
Architecture: 130 nm
Chipset: Mobile Intel Chipset 845
Package: 478 pin PPGA FC-PGA2

The specs of the prospective Centrino are:

Clock Speed: 400MHz
Voltage: 1.340-1.276
Architecture: 90nm
Chipset: Mobile Intel Chipset 855
Package: 478 pin PPGA

Thanks,

Mark

No, you can't. A Pentium-M has 479 pins, not 478.

Sorry Minuteman, but you are incorrect. Copied direct from the Intel website:

Mobile Intel Pentium 4-M, SLCVC: 478 pin PPGA FC-PGA2

Intel Pentium M, SL7EN: 478 pin PPGA

So, as you can see, they both have 478 pins. The voltages are similar and the clock speeds are the same. The differences are the the chipset (845 v 855) and the PPGA FC-PGA2 v PPGA grid arrays.

Thanks for the reply.

There are both 478-pin FC-PGA and 479-ball FC-BGA versions.
