PS3 was working fine, then it would stop reading blue rays, but still was reading dvds, then i has stopped reading dvds as well. While it would not read any disks it would eject and intake all cds fine, at this point i determined the issue is laser, which i have purchased from ebay. i have disassembled drive in order to replace laser head, installed laser head, assembled back rom drive at this point it would not intake any discs anymore as well as it would not eject any, however if i remove ejection mechanism, station reads all dvds and bluerays fine and plays game and music, so controller of the drive appears to be in working order, the only issue is ejection and intake of the discs. I did check with our local ps3 repair shops, one said it is taking too much time for him, so he just said its not worth for him to put any more time in to it, another guy said that i need a new drive. As of myself, i think the issue could be either switch board or it could i may have static damaged the part thats responsible for ejection of the discs... which i would doubt, but oh well, its a possibility. I dont know the schematics of that particular PS3 drive and if would have it i would certainly would know where to look.
So, if you dont mind sharing your opinion on the issue i would greatly appreciate it.

P.S.
gears are fine and i have a spare mechanism as well, but not spare controller, i will try to see how those switches work... i also read that ps3 rom drives are tied up to particular motherboard and drive has 8 pin eeprom chip on controller, would i need to replace that chip on new board in order for it to accept new drive (if i get one)in system?
P.P.S.ITS AN OLD FAT CONSOLE "CECHK" WITH KES-410A LASER HEAD _________________ its here. |
