looking through other D package 8008s, there are earlier ones around
that variety seems to be late 79 with dimple for pin one marker
this one appears to be earliest in this particular package
I'm guessing it is a Eng sample for either packaging or new die revision

I have no idea. There are D8088-1 chips with earlier date codes, made in Barbados and Philippines. I don't know if there are earlier D8008-1 processors, made in Malaysia.
