I've seen typical chip date codes like 7803 or 0378. There's no ambiguity in either convention. But what about 814 or 733 (from RCA)
Any other obvious conventions that someone can teach me would be great! |

with 3 date codes you need to take into context the part & package and on some copyright if available
the 1802 was released early 1976
so 814 will be week 14 1978
and 733 on the 1852s will be week 33 1977
still lot easier than working out date on some Japanese chips
especially companies that based the year on how long the Emperor had been on the throne _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

Thanks Neon_WA! So basically omit the decade and the first number is year. I had that thought but was not sure. The 1802CD page on cpu-world doesn't explain the date code.

Some have 4-digit date code. |

the format of date codes often changed with time.. and this helps also determining the decade
There are a few sites dedicated to determine IC date codes, but most are easy to work out _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

One quick one:
So this 8080 is 33rd week of 1979? If yes, then mine is 31th week of 1977 . |
