I have finally found her without having to mortgage my house to get it,,

I have her installed in an EVGA 790i Ultra board and with the overclock it pretty much keeps up with my Sandy in gaming.. Confused

here she is in all her glory..

Here's the setup I have her in her a Armor+ MX Case..

8G DDR3 2000, 3 x XFX GTX260 Black Editions, she screams and takes everything I throw at her.

my first post and I'm just getting into the collecting of cpu's, I have about 100 old pc's in the basement to start tearing down, hopefully I find a gem in there...

Welcome mate Smile

When stripping the units down.. there maybe some boards & cards worth selling to fund the habit Laughing

but being serious.. do a little research on the items and dont just strip the CPUs out.
Even certain early IBM keyboards fetch a pretty penny.. and it all helps

you can give me as a bad example with that nexgen board.. Smile

would be good here a thread "biggest mistake i made when collecting cpus" .. to be a "not to do" guide for the beginners ...

thanks for all the info and praises, I've been a computer head since I went to school for it back in the mid 80s.

my first computer was a timex sinclair, man I wish I still had it just for what's inside.

but I do work for Futuremark, Guru3d, PBBans and Punkbuster so I have access to tons of stuff that normally wouldn't be floating around..

the only thing I need to invest in is one of those giant bins like you see on the street when they are tearing down houses for my cases Razz

the wife is already starting to complain..

but here's a question I have..

Quote:
The QX9700 with it's unlocked multi, performance and a bunch of other nuances in the way it clocks and reacts to overclocking, could the extreme cpu's (QX9650 - QX9770) have been the precursor or experimental Sandy cores in development. because clock for clock this QX9770 isn't too far behind my i5 2500k and in some cases matches it. CPU Queen Qx9770 @ 4ghz 34,879 - i5 2500k @ 4.5ghz 33,912

those 2 were based on 2 different technologies

the Core 2 Extreme was made in 0.045 micron technology.. using the Yorkfield core which was based on the Penryn core

the Intel Core i5 2xxx series was made in 0.032 micron, while earlier i5s were made in 0.045 micron
but both still used a different core technology
