just checking if my thinking is correct
I was wondering why the CPUid was out of order for some Northwood P4s
with B0 stepping being F24
and C1 stepping being F27
and D1 stepping being F29
and M0 stepping being F25
I looked at the stepping finding it was used for Gallatin cored Xeons & P4 EEs
So even though CPUid would most likely say these are Northwoods, they actually use the Gallatin core?
here are the sSpecs that are in question SL6Z3 , SL6Z5 , SL79B , SL7BK & SL7V9 _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:

Sorry, I'm not into Pentium 4s right now... We can find one of these s-specs, remove the heatspreader and compare die size with other S-spec with real Northwood stepping.

I will see if I have any spares of those sSpecs...
I'm guessing they will be all "30-capper" 478s.. I know 3 are
on a side note.. all I have seen have been made in Costa

I have told a few people to collect some of the newer processors now.. as many are being just scrapped rather than sold
prime example is socket 423s.. in past year listings have dropped to the point where they have almost disappeared
EDIT >> just realised the last revision of no L3 cache Prestonia is also same CPUid
so will source a spare of this as well and compare the following
M0 P4 478
M0 Prestonia DP Xeon 603/604 (no L3) Intel released bios updates on Sept 2004 for these
M0 Gallatin DP Xeon 604 (includes L3) parts released from March 2003 to Feb 2004
some notes to remind me
130nm Prestonia Xeon
Processing Die Size 131 mm2
# of Processing Die Transistors 55 million
130nm Northwood Pentium 4
Processing Die Size 131 mm2
# of Processing Die Transistors 55 million
interestingly Intel list DP Gallatin Xeons as Prestonia with L3 cache
while only the MPs are listed as Gallatin core _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:
