Hello Folks,

I'm kinda new to CPU meanings and its terminologies associated with them.

I want to upgrade my CPU from an AMD Athlon 64 3800+ to a AMD Athlon 64 x2 4800+. It calls for socket 939 and AM2 per my motherboard specs. My question is: Are they both the same socket or are they a different type of socket? Mine calls for a 939. And also; do you recommend putting in a more wattage power supply. Mine 350Watt.

Thanks,
Roger

Socket 939 and AM2 are different sockets. In my opinion, your power supply should be ok, although I don't know much about power supplies.
