Multi Threading: Amd 8 Core or Intel i7 4 core

Hello, I use Cubase 5 which is a digital audio workstation. It capitalizes on multi-threading.

I understand that the Intel chip benchmarks higher than the AMD but would it be as effective considering that its has half the cores?

Should I get the Amd 8 core or Intel i7 4 core?

I'm not a big fan of AMD CPU's when it comes down to per-core performance. It seems when you go apples to apples (er....cores to cores) at a given clock speed, the Intel usually blows away it's AMD counterpart.
