Yo dudes \o

Now,I know you really like to hang out on the high-end technology threads, but here's one simple question for y'all Wink

I found some dinosaur computer configuration and decided to have some fun with it...However, a small issue was all that took to spoil all the fun Sad

The configuration is as follows :

Duron 1.1 GHz
MB is Asus A7V266-C
graphics Asus A9550
640 MB DDR

As you may know,Duron's socket is Socket A or Socket 462. It is also Athlon's,working at 1333 MHz.
The problem occurred when I tried to replace aforementioned Duron with this Athlon, but the system failed to boot...I know this is a common issue related to an outdated BIOS,but as far as I remember, you don't have to update BIOS if you want to install Athlon (not an XP Athlon). Oh,one more thing...After I had installed Athlon,I repacked the whole configuration to another case, turned the computer on and that was the moment it failed to boot.I ran a check to see if I had damaged any of the components, but everything was OK when I installed back Duron Confused
Now I KNOW I saw a chart where it clearly stated Athlon 1333 supports any BIOS revision for my motherboard,so the question is : ATHLON - Y U NO WORK ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

i generally haven't had a problem with socket As.. but a lot of people seem to end up with dead ones.. as the die can be damaged easily

here is the CPU support list for the board
http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/list.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=10&m=A7V266-C&os=17&hashedid=n/a

and you can grab the mobo manual on download tab if need

Yeah, that was the chart I had mentioned before. It's Athlon 1333 MHz with a 266 MHz front side bus. Speaking of dead things, you reminded me to check if Athlon was dead itself, and it turned out to be completely functional Shocked . I simply returned it to its original motherbord, some Epox model even older than my Asus and everything work fine Cool The only thing left for me to do is to study the manual from that Asus support page you provided and see if I can solve the problem Wink

Thanks for the help,mate Wink
