With this CPUAXDA3200DKV4E-MB combination, everything seems to run fine but the L2 cache is 256 kb instead of 512 kb and misidentified as the Athlon +3100. I have reinstalled and updated windows xp twice but having the same problem. The CPU Information of the POST showed only Athlon 2.2G and DDR 400 mode is activated, Dual channel activated, CPU settings in the BIOS were done according to the data MSI provided.
I have used CPU-Z (Latest version) to detect the CPU info it shows up as the Athlon XP +3100 instead of the +3200 model (AXDA3200DKV4E), just because the amoont of L2 cache detected is wrong, I wonder what is happening Confused

Have you updatred the bios?
Checked with cpu-z application?

My guess it's that you got a fake 3200+ cpu.

If you can post a pic of the cpu.

Yes,I checked it with the current version of CPU-Z and Everest ultimate version. They all show the same results mentioned above

The current BIOS version of my MB is 5.2. According to MSI official website , the Athlon XP +3200 is supported since version 5.1. Also I have heard some cases that Windows XP doesn't identify these CPU correctly from BIOS. Unfortunately I cannot open the PC anymore to inspect the CPU for some reasons. Before I assembled the CPU into the PC, I have check the black sticker and it is correct, and the appearance looks like the one displayed on this website.
If it is really a +3100 CPU faked as the +3200, it is not quite a loss since the CPU does performed as expected (as a +3100). Maybe I will get help from my local PC dealer to solve this problem if I am allowed to in the future.
I am sorry for posting this seemingly useless post because i cannot provide more information (like the CPU picture) and thanks for your reply

@dume for some facts you are right, I have the lucky chance to open the PC to check the CPU again, and I discovered the L2 settings on this CPU is switched to 256kb instead of the 512kb in the +3200 case. The CPU-Z and Everest is right. The CPU is indeed a Athlon 3100+ faked as a 3200+ one.
Though case is closed, I am wondering if it is rare when it come to use the 3100+ to fake as a 3200+ since I have frequently heard using more inferior model (ex 2500+)to fake as 3200+

You get more $$$ out of a 3200+ than a 3100+.

Money is money. I hope you didn't pay it too much though. If you did you have been scammed.

Bye and cheer up!
