| Hi! I'm a newbie in this site and I have limited knowledge about computer hardware. I have a damaged mobo (Asus P5S-MX-SE) with a Pentium 4 531 3.0Ghz processor mounted on it. I planning to buy a new board (Asus P5G41T-M LX) but the website doesn't specify the Pentium 4 in its CPU support list but on the other hand it was specified in the user manual that it can support processors with Hyper-Threading. Since the 531 Prescott has Hyper-Threading support, can I still use it with this new board? I have a tight budget as of the moment but I'll try to upgrade to dual cores later. Any advice shall be appreciated. Thanks! |

the board should accept the 531 as it accepts the 630 which is also produced using 90nm technology
the only difference between the 600 & 500 series is that the 600s have 2M cache instead of 1M _________________ There are 10 types of people in this world:
