hi,

I know I saw one time this chip here, but I am not able to find
the topic.
Has anyone a info related to these kind of chips? There is nothing
written on the top of the chips.
it seems to be very strange. 6 cores and so less pins??

thx. for your help!

I have 5 of those chips...I took one apart and they are amazing in the interior!

Did we ever confirm if they are Hyper SPARCs?

I probably did not do it the best way, but I got a fine chisel and put it in a vice clamp. All you need to remove is the metal cap on the top. Since it is plastic, heating it really isn't an option. The cores sit on a thin silicon or metal sheet that is separate from the metal lid/heatsink.

Whatever method you use, try to minimize any dust because the cores have a layer of very sticky gel on top that will attract dust and show any finger prints (permanently).

Hope that helps!

these will give you a bit more background to them

http://mbus.sunhelp.org/chips/hyperbits.htm
http://mbus.sunhelp.org/modules/index.htm

http://www.cilinder.be/docs/ross/hyper.pdf (477kB)

apart from CPU die not sure which cache or CMTU dies will be on your chips but we ended up with RT626 & RT628s in this GB
