Dell Studio 1558 - upgrade or new computer?!?!

Specs on my Dell Studio 1558 laptop

Intel I5 520 - 2.4GHz
8GB RAM - (1333 MHz)
500GB @ 7200 RPM
Dell Wireless 1520 Wireless N WLAN Mini-Card
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500/5100 Series

Hoping there are upgrades I can do to boost overall performance/speed. The HD size in a non-issue for me. Supports 1080 resolution but would always be nice to have an increase with this as well.

You should be able to upgrade to I7-640M, which will give you a small performance boost, up to 20%. Some Dell Studio 1558 laptops came with quad-core processors, so you may be able to upgrade to those. Before CPU upgrade make sure that your processor is socketed (it probably is). Another possible upgrade is to replace your hard drive with SSD. I don't think you can upgrade video card in this Dell.
