|
|
Hi all,
I have just bought the following and wondered what your thoughts are on it.
"1974 RCA COSMAC 1802 Development Kit with RS-232 Port added plus four 1977 RCA COSMAC boards - CPU, Memory and ADC board and RTC (with Forth and Monitor in EPROM) plus two 1978 complete RCA 1802 boards as a kit (one built and running Forth) + heaps of 1802 software, monitors, monitors, Tiny Basic, Full Basic on Tape, Tiny Forth, on EPROM + Memory Chips Static RAM and EPROMS, all low power wide temperature, plus a heap of original 1802 RCA books etc"
I think this would be extremely rare and would be interested in what you guys would value this at.
The Seller stated this to me "It was released by RCA about 1974-75 throughout the USA and Canada. I have had this one since then, it has been used as a development system for a low temperature -20 C or better data logger in the Canadian Widerness, logging solar cells. The code was transferred to a custom COSMAC unit with the passive backplane and three COSMAC boards. Later I got the Tiny basic and Forth running on a nother set of 1802 boards."
I have not got photo's yet as it has yet to be sent to me but i will post Photo's on arrival.

At auction, I'd guess about US$300 to US$500.
How much did you pay for it, and are you going to keep it or sell it?

Yes it has some EPROMS with it. Looks Like Most of them will be Intel D2716 or equivalents, However they all have Stickers on them that cover the details and have descriptions written on them so I am loath to remove the stickers. I am posting photo's of two. The one with the gold pins I beleive to be the original. The others will be additions and have labels on them like "Tiny Basic", "Monitor" etc etc.

I would love to know the type of the top one (original) it should be an early RCA EPROM, I have the part number in one of my old CPU books but since I am in the forest cannot access it lol _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

Oh My, you have been trawling through some really old posts haven't you Stu.
I have trawled the internet over the years and have never found another like this one to date.
I still have this item, it has not been sold yet and I have a Vintage Industriial Microboard System as well which I may post photo's of at some time in the future.

I have taken photo's, today, of the Development System that I bought as part of this back in 2006 and I am going to post them here as well.
I have not touched this since I bought it and have only taken the cards out for photographing today.
There are also a couple of spare cards that came with it one of which has no components on it yet.
I have also scanned the Front Pages of the Manuals and Documentation and will post those as well.
There are a lot of photo's so it will take a few posts.
The Top 2 Photo's are a front view & Side View of the Chassis with the Cards in place.
The next 2 photo's are of the Boards themselves going front to back.
Cheers & Enjoy. _________________ The Older they are the Better they are. |
